ReThRo’s Animal Fun Day in the news.

ReThRo organised an Animal Fun Day, with the emphasis on dogs for the 31st of August 2019. The venue was provided by Jacaranda College and Preprimary  at Kolgans Park, The Reeds. The main attraction was the chipping of dogs and cats by Chip for Cheaper for only R150 a chip. For more information visit… An amazing 50 animals were chipped including two cats. The day was opened by the mayor of Tshwane, Stevens Mokgalapa with a few words, he also donated dog food.  He was accompanied by the MMC for Community safety and Emergency services Alderman Karen Meyer and the MMC for Region 4 Cllr Dana Wannenburg. The opening was followed by a demonstration by the Metro Police Dog Unit. The dogs and their handlers showed how they searched for drugs and bombs. It was concluded by an enactment of a car being stolen, with the highlight the car thief being taken down by the dog.

The Equestrian Unit of the Metro Police was also present. The three horses were enjoyed by the children and the adults. Woof and Meow  mobile doggy parlour did a demonstration on how to care for your dog next. A cute small doggy was washed and pampered and even had a nail cut. There was also a competition to find the cutest owner and dog. The prizes will be shared among the entrants. The entry fee was any animal food that will be gifted to a charity. Hot dogs and water and cold drinks were sold by Wierdabrug Sector 2 CPF. There were also face painters and two jumping castles that kept the children busy. ReThRo Wishes to thank Cllr Casper McDonald with his help in organising the day, especially the mayor, the MMC’s and the TMPD presence, as well as the introduction to Mr Kruyt from Jacaranda College.
