RETHRO NEWS FEBRUARY 2018
Remember our clean-up scheduled for the 17th February at Phillps Supermarket? It happened! Thanks to the ward councillor Casper McDonald for organizing rubbish bags and gloves, and for the cold water. That was much appreciated. Thanks for everybody that turned up to help with the cleaning. We made a difference, even if it was for a while only. ReThRo also had a table at the centre and managed to get a few more people on our mailing list. Thanks also to Amos from Just Letting for getting us permission to put ReThRo’s table at the centre

Bookmark the weekend of 10 and 11 March 2018 as well. Remember the ruling of the Constitutional Court in 2016? It gave the Electoral Commission time until June 2018 to update the voters’ roll with all available addresses, and that time is nearly up. During the weekend of the 10 and 11 March all 22 612 voting stations in the country will be open from 08h00 till 17h00. During this time people will be able to register as a voter, re-register if they have moved, and to provide the correct address details if it is not available on the voters’ roll. The voting stations in ward 64 are in order of:
Municipality, Ward, Voting district, Voting station name, Latitude, Longitude, Address

Reference numbers
No electricity, water or sewage complaint can be addressed without a municipal reference number. Please remember that a councillor may only intervene once a resident has reported an issue to the City of Tshwane Municipality and feels that the matter is not resolved. Then contact the councillor with the:
REFERENCE NUMBER
STREET ADDRESS (sometimes closest corner)
SUBURB
NAME
CONTACT NUMBER (This is so the workers can contact you if they need more information, e.g. which of the three trees in front of your fence must be cut). Sometimes more information is needed, like the account number when there is an individual power failure. Please send all the relevant information in one message to the councillor and stay with the same means of communication. If you emailed the problem ask for feedback by email, or if you whatsapped keep on whatsapping.
The councillor stays in contact with the teams doing the repairs via whatsapp. They do not have access to computers. They are only allowed to work when a job card has been issued. The reference number is proof that it is in the system and that a job card has been issued so therefore they can proceed. Occupational health and safety issues also have an impact on non-official work done, that is also why a councillor cannot tell them to do work without a reference number. He can only do his oversight and escalate problems that need fixing if they have already been reported.

How do I report a problem to the Municipality?
All complaints can be lodged at the call centre. The toll-free number is (080) 1111556 (This toll-free number is available free of charge for all residents to report complaints) We’ve tested it from a pay-as-you-go phone with zero airtime and your call still goes through!
Alternatively call 0123589999 or email customercare@tshwane.gov.za (all complaints with the exception of Billing Queries – please email billing queries to creditcontrol@tshwane.gov.za)
